This year we met at the German Gymnasium, next to King's Cross and St. Pancras stations
in London. Built in the 1860s as a gymnasium by the German community in London it is now a Grand Café, Restaurant and bar. Our thanks to Rainaldo who
organised the booking and to Erwin who was visiting from his home in Louisville Kentucky and who treated us to an
excellent dinner.
Videos
The venue was too noisy for good videos, but here are two short clips of Erwin talking to John Onraet and then speaking to us all
The Following Day
Percy Aggett took John Harvey to see the recently rebuilt organ at St. Mellitus
Tollington Park, his local church. Opened as a Congregational church in 1871 it became a Catholic church in the 1960s, at which time the preacher rostrum
was replaced by an altar, the organ console relocated to the balcony and the organ pipes hidden behind a screen. The rebuild has exposed the organ pipes
again.
Read about the rebuild here. Full specification can be found at the
National Pipe Organ Register. Local newspaper article before the rebuild
here.
